NSSC1 Ceiling Board 15mm Description

15mm Acoustic soundproofing board to increase sound reduction of ceiling soundproofing systems

Thin soundproofing panel combining 12.5mm acoustic plasterboard and a 2.5mm layer of high density rubber bonded together to form the resultant panel. Use in ceiling applications to reduce airborne sound transmission. Combine with DFM insulation and Soundbreaker bars as part of a new soundproof ceiling.

It is important to use this type of board as part of a complete ceiling soundproofing system, not as a stand alone product. Minimum installation requirements would be hanging the boards from Soundbreaker Bars and adding an extra layer of acoustic plasterboard. For the best results you should also use DFM acoustic insulation between the ceiling joists. This will enable you to reduce airborne and impact noise when combining these products.

Product Specification

The acoustic boards combine a 12.5mm acoustic plasterboard, ˝ hour fire rated and layer of 2.5mm high density metal impregnated rubber which are bonded together to form the acoustic board. The two layers are bonded together using a polyurethane adhesive.

DATA SHEET

Installation

This product has to be installed onto studs, joists or soundbreaker bars using dry wall screws or nails. It is not suitable for using dry wall adhesives directly onto a wall or ceiling due to the rubber on the back of the board stopping the adhesive soaking into the plasterboard. If you are using the Soundbreaker Bars the boards should be screwed on to the bars.

The boards can be cut using a hand saw or circular saw; this method can generate a lot of dust. Each board should be fixed with a minimum of 12 screws if applying to a wall, and 16 if applying them to a ceiling.

All edges should be sealed with an acoustic sealant.

To achieve a one hour fire rating for your wall or ceiling you should add an extra layer of 12.5mm acoustic plasterboard.

Enjoy peace and quiet with The Sound Solution.
