The Extreme Soundproofing Shed Tests

We were lucky enough to be chosen to soundproof the four sheds that appeared on Grand Designs-Live on the 7th May 2008 on Channel Four Television, arranged by TalkBack Thames. As you will have seen the soundproofing passed the tests with flying colours and showed just what can be done to alleviate noise from any source especially noisy neighbours. We used a combination of materials such as, Noisedeck 36, NSSBS 10kg impregnated 5mm Barrier Shield, Dense Fibre Matting of 140kg density, SF19 SuperFOIL Quilt, Tri Iso Super 10, and NSSW1+ wall panels. The resultant reductions were superb and demonstrated that using today’s materials anything can be successfully soundproofed to any standard. The degrees of soundproofing shown were from minimum to a “BBC” studio standard. We can supply materials for any degree of soundproofing and all quotations are FREE. View Larger Image	Shed 1 It was just as they come with no insulation at all and this showed quite clearly as there was literally no reduction at all. This is ok for a shed but little use in any other application but it gave us a "bench mark" from which to base all readings for the other sheds.
View Larger Image	Shed 2 This showed what can be easily done using the correct materials as we would normally suggest for a typical "Noisy Neighbour" situation. Very cost effective and simple.
View Larger Image	Shed 3 By using this combination of materials we were able to show a 60% noise reduction which was showing how a normal house should be so as to have no neighbour problems and for the occupants to have a superb quiet home. Yes a little noise would be heard but if it is required quieter then another small amount of material can be added. This is also very cost effective and takes away the aggravation of nuisance noise in the home.
View Larger Image	Shed 4 Well they offered the challenge and we soundproofed it to BBC standard or in effect studio quality which is almost silence. Obviously this would not be needed in the normal home but it showed just what can be done today with the correct materials and they do not take up loads of space.
