SPRING ISOLATION UNITS TYPE FS comprise a group of heavy duty helical steel spring contained between robust steel platforms. Units are available with platforms in the H version for maximum height and clearance. There is also the L version for applications where compact height is an advantage.
As standard, the springs are painted black and the platforms finished in two coats of read oxide paint. Retaining screws place a slight preload on the springs and set the unit at its delivered height.
When the springs are deflected under load, the screws become free. Resilient seating pads are supplied to cover the flat top and bottom surfaces of the platforms.
In the case of the H version platforms, it should be noted that the top bottom cavities are to be filled with concrete prior to installation. Following installation, it is advisable to clean the units and protect the springs and screws with grease.
If a unit has to be removed in service then compression may be applied by tightening the screws. Care should be to immediately dismantle the unit under a press.
Steel springs can be employed in a variety of combinations and support arrangements. Farrat will design isolation systems to meet a customer’s specific technical requirements. If requested, construction drawings, reinforcement bat bending schedules and instructions for the contractor can be provided. |
