Crown Marine Lining Board

Short Description

Crown Marine Lining Board is manufactured from shot free, non-combustible Crown glass mineral wool to provide a rigid board of 32 kg/m³ nominal density with an enhanced level of water repellency.

It is faced with a tough, puncture resistant woven glass cloth and backed with a white glass tissue.

Crown Marine Lining Board is used for the thermal and acoustic lining of bulkheads, decks and other internal primed steelwork structural surfaces in Admiralty shipping and similar marine and offshore applications where Defence Standard 02-802 (NES 802) Part 1 mineral wool products would usually be used but where the weight contributed by the insulation is a critical design consideration.

Standards

Crown Marine Lining Board is made from inorganic glass wool, defined as mineral wool in BS 3533. Crown Marine Lining Board is manufactured under a BS EN ISO 9002 Quality System assessed by BSI. Crown Marine Lining Board has a Class 1 surface spread of flame to BS 476 Part 7. Crown Marine Lining Board has been evaluated to Defence Standard 02-802 (NES 802) Parts 1 and 5.

Form and Dimensions

Crown Marine Lining Board facing is factory applied and comprises a white, woven glass cloth of approximately 440 g/m² which conforms to Defence Standard 02-802 (NES 802) Parts 1 and 5. The backing is also factory applied and comprises a lightweight glass tissue of 35 g/m2 which provides a suitable surface to ensure consistent glue rates. At butt joints and internal and external angles, where the glass cloth facing is not continuous, it should be reinforced with a 50mm wide strip of glass cloth tape. In areas subject to high wear, metallic cladding is usually used, bonded to Crown Marine Lining Board with epoxide adhesive.

Acoustics

Because of the acoustic absorbent nature of the product, Crown Marine Lining Board will contribute significantly to the reduction of reverberant noise within an area and will also make a contribution to the reduction of transmitted noise between areas.

Permanence

Crown Marine Lining Board is rot proof, odourless, non-hygroscopic, does not sustain vermin and will not encourage the growth of fungi, mould or bacteria. Crown Marine Lining Board is dimensionally stable under varying conditions of temperature and humidity and is compatible with all surfaces on which it is likely to be used in normal applications.

Form and Dimensions

Crown Marine Lining Board is supplied as 1200mm x 600mm slabs in thicknesses of 25, 50 and 75mm (all dimensions are nominal). Other sizes and thicknesses may be available subject to enquiry.
