Crown Rafter Roll 32 is an unfaced, semi-rigid roll of glass mineral wool with extra high thermal performance.
Standards
Crown Rafter Roll 32 is a non-combustible inorganic glass wool, defined as mineral wool in BS 3533: 1981 and is manufactured in accordance with BSI Quality Assurance Standard BS EN ISO 9001: 2000.
Thermal Insulation
Crown Rafter Roll 32 has a thermal conductivity of 0.032 W/mK.
Fire Performance
Crown Rafter Roll 32 is non-combustible, glass wool being classified as Euroclass A1 to BS EN ISO 13501-1.
Acoustic Performance
Crown Rafter Roll 32 has excellent sound absorption characteristics.
Durability
Crown Rafter Roll 32 is odourless, rot proof, non-hygroscopic, does not sustain vermin and will not encourage the growth of fungi, mould or bacteria.

Handling and Storage

Crown Rafter Roll 32 is easy to handle and install, being lightweight and easily cut to size.

It is supplied in polythene packs which are designed for short term protection only. For longer term protection on site, the product should either be stored indoors, or under cover and off the ground.

Installation instructions are on every pack. Crown Rafter Roll 32 should not be left permanently exposed to the elements.

Vapour Resistance

Crown Rafter Roll 32 allows water vapour to pass freely through it, therefore allowing the construction element to breathe.

Crown Rafter Roll 32 is unfaced, making it necessary to install a separate vapour control layer.

Application

Crown Rafter Roll 32 is for insulating between the rafters of pitched roofs of both new build and existing buildings. It is easy to cut and friction fit between rafters.

As Crown Rafter Roll 32 is unfaced, it is necessary to add a separate vapour control layer on the warm side of the insulation. In accordance with Building Regulation requirements, a 50mm ventilation path must be preserved behind the insulation where the underlay has high thermal resistance, for example traditional roofing felt.

Crown Rafter Roll 32 can be used either as a single or double layer between rafters, or as the first layer of a two layer system in combination with Polyfoam Linerboard.

In room in roof constructions the thickness of the insulation is restricted by the depth of the rafter. Most attic trusses for this type of application have rafters at least 200mm thick. Crown Rafter Roll 32 allows U-values of 0.20W/m2K in all circumstances in thicknesses of 200mm or less.
