Polyfoam Sarking Board System

Short Description
Polyfoam Sarking Board System is a high performance, 100% ozone friendly, extruded polystyrene, rigid board insulation system. It is lightweight and consists of a top piece, which minimises insulation thickness over the top of rafters, underlaid with a flexible infill piece to fit between rafters, even allowing for some timber variation. Polyfoam Sarking Board System consists of a 75mm T-Shaped ‘Top Hat’ overlay board and Polyfoam Raftersqueeze flexible infill board.
Fire Performance
When Polyfoam Sarking Board System is installed in a roof construction it will not contribute to the development stages of a fire.
Moisture resistance
Polyfoam Sarking Board System is highly resistant to moisture absorption and will perform as stated if exposed to condensation or other moisture in use.
Thermal insulation
Polyfoam Sarking Board System is a high performance insulant, with aged quoted thermal performance values. The actual performance in use of Polyfoam Sarking Board System is outlined in the attached application section.
Compression Resistance
The rigidity of the Polyfoam Sarking Board System makes the boards easy to handle and less prone to site damage than less robust materials.

Handling and Storage

Polyfoam Sarking Board System is supplied in polythene packs, labelled with identifying product and manufacturing data. The boards are easy to handle and non-irritant, no special protective clothing is required to install them. Polyfoam products should not be left exposed to prolonged sunlight as this will result in surface degradation. Where outside storage for extended periods is required cover with opaque/light coloured sheeting. Ensure the boards are not stored close to open flame or other ignition source, also avoiding volatile compounds and chemicals such as solvents.

Application

Polyfoam Sarking Board System is used for thermal insulation of warm pitched roofs over and between rafters in new build with timbers at 600mm centres. In warm pitched roofing over rafter insulation two main issues to address are thickness of insulation over rafters and ease of installation. In pitched roofing insulation, the optimum solution needs to be:

thermally efficient
stable in the long term
rigid
lightweight
easy to install (the use of Polyfoam Raftersqueeze as an infill panel makes installation simple and quick)
as thin as possible over rafters (the Polyfoam Sarking Board System minimises thickness over rafter, making installation easier and more cost effective)
