Rocksilk Rock Mineral Wool

Short Description
Rocksilk Duct Slab is manufactured from noncombustible, inorganic rock mineral wool to give a strong slab of 45kg/m3 nominal density with high thermal efficiency, which is easy to handle, cut and install. It is supplied with a factory applied Bright Class 'O' reinforced aluminium foil facing.
Standards
Rocksilk Duct Slab is made from non-combustible, inorganic rock wool, defined as mineral wool in BS 3533:1981. It complies with BS 3958: Part 5 and with the requirements of BS 5422 and BS 5970. It is manufactured to a Quality Assurance system which complies with BS EN ISO 9001:2000.
Fire Performance
Rocksilk Duct Slab base rock mineral wool is non-combustible to BS 476: Part 4: 1970 (1984). Foil faced product has a Class 1 surface spread of flame to BS 476: Part 7: 1997 and complies with the Class "O" requirements of the Building Regulations when tested to BS 476: Part 6: 1989 and Part 7: 1997.
Acoustic Performance
Rocksilk Duct Slab can be used for noise control of ductwork. Their lightweight, fire safe and robust nature combined with excellent sound absorption characteristics make it an ideal choice for sound attenuation applications.
Thermal Performance
The thermal conductivity of the insulation varies with temperature as shown in the table below.
Permanence
The mineral wool of Rocksilk Duct Slab is odourless, rot proof, non-hygroscopic, does not sustain vermin and will not encourage the growth of fungi, mould or bacteria.

Operating Temperatures

Rocksilk Duct Slab can be used up to continuous operating temperatures of 230°C and down to cryogenic temperatures provided that a 100% vapour barrier is maintained to prevent ingress of moisture vapour. The surface temperature of the facing should not exceed 80°C.

Handling and Storage

Rocksilk Duct Slab is supplied in polythene packs in Supakube pallets. The Product Data table shows storage information for each thickness.
