Rocksilk Soffit Linerboards
Short Description
Standards
The mineral wool of both Rocksilk Soffit Linerboards is non-combustible inorganic rock wool, defined as mineral wool in BS 3533, manufactured in accordance with BSI Quality Assurance Standard BS EN ISO 9001: 2000.
Fire Performance
The mineral wool of both Rocksilk Soffit Linerboards is classified as Euroclass A1 BS EN ISO 13501-1. The rock mineral wool in both Rocksilk Soffit Linerboards has an extremely high melting point of over 1000ºC. In the event of fire it will emit negligible quantities of smoke and fumes. The heat emission from the product is insignificant.

The facing of both variants is classified as Class 1 Surface spread of flame to BS 476: Part 7: 1987, and Class 'O' to the Building Regulations.
Thermal Performance
Permanence
Moisture Resistance
Both Rocksilk Soffit Linerboards have moisture resistant facings which make the product suitable for applications where it will be installed in exposed or semi exposed environments such as those associated with open sided car parks.
Handling and Storage

Rocksilk Soffit Linerboards are supplied on non-returnable wooden pallets wrapped in a polythene hood for temporary protection during transit and on site.

For longer term outside storage (stock or site) the pallets should be stored under a secure waterproof covering. If the boards do get wet allow them to thoroughly dry before installation.

When cutting the facing board on Rocksilk Soffit Linerboard Extra it is advisable to wear a face mask to guard against dust. No special protective clothing is required.
Application
For the thermal and acoustic insulation of residential and non-residential soffit applications, whilst also providing enhanced fire resistance performance. Both Rocksilk Soffit Linerboards are 1200 x 600mm for ease of handling. The non-combustible nature of the insulation in both Rocksilk Soffit Linerboards makes them ideal for soffit lining and underlining of car parks and garages. The rock mineral wool insulation used in this solution offers high thermal performance and has good compression resistance.
Installation
Both Rocksilk Soffit Linerboards are fixed directly to the structure using a suitable mechanical insulation fixing of types as recommended for soffit linings by Hilti, Ejot, Fischer or similar to support a solution of c.18kg/m2. This is typically six fixings in a 1200 x 600mm sheet, though Knauf Insulation advises you to seek advice from the specific fixings manufacturer.

For ease of fixing, the facing board can be pre-drilled at fixing points prior to horizontal working. At junctions and edges care should be taken to ensure the insulation is covered with cement board at all times in the case of Soffit Linerboard Extra; or a suitable flashing at edges in the case of Soffit Linerboard Standard.
