Technical help and support

We are available to discuss your requirements and ensure you choose the right soundproofing for your needs

Fitting Noisedeck 36

  • Ensure the sub-floor is suitably even, clean and dry to allow the Noisedeck 36 to be laid flat.
  • You should install perimeter isolation tapes on the edges of the walls to isolate the boards from the walls.
  • Commence the installation of the flooring from the furthest point from the entrance and try to avoid off-cuts of less than 200mm.
  • Noisedeck 36 is laid in a broken brick bond pattern with the tongue and groove edges glued together. Avoid mechanical fixings into the joist.

Building Stud Walls

You should install stud walls before laying the Noisedeck 36 acoustic flooring system. Building partition walls before installing floating floors will reduce flanking sound transmission. Isolating the flooring from stud partition walls and structural walls will ensure the soundproofing integrity of the separating floor and the walls. We recommend stud walls are built on top of the floor joists and isolated as much as possible. Additional support noggins between the floor joists may be required if you are building stud partition walls directly onto the Noisedeck 36.

It is recommended that you isolate stud walls from the Noisedeck using Isolation Strips below the footer of the stud frame.

Skirting Boards and Architraves

Reduce flanking sound by isolating skirting boards and architraves from the flooring. Roll the isolation strip over the flooring and place the skirting board on top. Trim excess tape with a sharp knife. Leave a 2-3mm gap between architraves and the surface of the floor.

Kitchens and Bathrooms

Use support noggins between the joists in kitchens and bathrooms to support the acoustic flooring in higher load areas.

Alternative Solutions

Floor and Ceiling Soundproofing

Make sure you are getting the right floor soundproofing solutions for your needs. Understanding the most common types of noise and how to stop them will help you decide the right acoustic flooring solution.

Different Types of Sound

  • Airborne sounds – Conversation, TV noise and radios are examples of airborne sound. The best way to stop airborne sounds is to add mass/density to the walls or ceilings.
  • Impact/vibration sounds – Footfall and moving furniture across a floor are examples of impact sounds. The best way to reduce these sounds is to create separation.

In summary, the best way to reduce airborne sounds is by increasing the mass of the area you would like to soundproof. Reducing impact/vibration sounds is achieved by creating separation within the structure.

Reducing Impact and Airborne Sounds

By following some of these steps, you will ensure you get the best level of soundproofing for your room.

  • Mass/Density – Increasing the mass and density of the area you are soundproofing will block airborne sounds from transferring between rooms. You will increase the mass of walls and ceilings using materials such as soundproof panels or high-density acoustic insulation slabs.
  • Separation – Incorporating separation within the structure will reduce vibration and impact sounds transferring between rooms. Achieve separation by building independent stud walls and ceilings. If you don’t have the space in the room, you can use acoustic clips and resilient channels to decouple the wall and ceiling.
  • Absorption – Use materials that are going to absorb sounds. Acoustic insulation is suitable for sound absorption as it converts the sound waves into heat as it passes through the insulation. Dense mass loaded barriers will also dampen and absorb sound. Use acoustic underlays or floating floors to absorb footfall through timber and concrete flooring.

How will my order be delivered?

The majority of orders we despatch are sent on pallets. We use a network of pallet distribution companies across the UK. All our pallet deliveries are kerbside deliveries. This means the pallet will be delivered as near to the delivery address as possible. Pallets are unloaded from the vehicles with a pallet truck. If it is possible the pallets can be dropped on driveways if they are accessible with the pallet truck.

Pallet deliveries are typically made on 7.5-tonne vehicles that are similar in size to bin lorries. Occasionally larger vehicles are used. If you know of any reason why it might be difficult to deliver to your address with this type of vehicle, please let us know so we can pass the information on to the delivery company. Typical delivery problems can include parking restrictions, access issues for certain size vehicles, low bridges and overhanging trees. Call 01423 339163 if you are unsure.

Unfortunately, the delivery drivers will not bring the goods into your property or unload the individual items from the pallets.

Many of our heavy items require two people to carry them safely.

All orders sent on pallets are wrapped and secured to the pallet to protect them while in transit. Once you have received your order, we would recommend storing the materials inside. If you plan on leaving your goods outside, you should use additional coverage to protect them from adverse weather conditions.

    Damaged or missing items

If items are damaged or missing when your order arrives, you should sign damaged or missing items on the driver’s paperwork. Call 01423339163 to let us know of the issue to allow us to rectify the problem quickly.

We might ask for a picture of the damage to speed up the process of arranging a suitable solution.

To enable us to resolve any issues with your delivery, it is essential that you sign for your delivery when it arrives.

    Returns

Can I return items from my order? Yes, you can return unused items from your order that are in a salable condition. We can arrange to collect unused materials and bring them back to us. We would refund the cost of the items returned back to us, less the shipping cost incurred by the company collecting the items. The cost to return the goods would be confirmed at the point of arranging the return. The refund would be paid once the goods have been brought back and have been checked at our warehouse.

Alternatively, you can arrange to return the materials back to us, and we will issue a refund once they have been received.

*All prices displayed are exclusive of VAT @ 20%. This will be added at the end of the checkout process before you confirm your order.

If you require any additional information regarding deliveries, please give us a call 01423 339163. Alternatively get in touch via our contacts page.

    What is a floating floor?

Answer: A floating floor is a term given to flooring that does not require mechanical fixings to the buildings structure. The Noisedeck range of flooring is interlocking; therefore it doesn’t require fixing to the floor. A floating floor is one of the best ways of soundproofing your floors. This type of flooring will comply with current Building regulations Part ‘e’.

Do these boards meet Part'e' for separating floors?

Answer: The Noisedeck flooring range will ensure you comply with regulations when installed as part of a combination of products. Timber floors will require 100mm of acoustic insulation slabs between the joists, Soundbreaker Bars and a double boarded ceiling to comply with part ‘e’.

Can I lay the flooring directly on to the floor joists or over the sub floor?

Answer: You can lay floating floors directly on to joists or over sub floors. If you are going directly on to the floor joists we would recommend either the Noisedeck 32 or Noisedeck 36. If you are laying your floor over the existing sub floor you can use the Noisedeck 27.

Can I fit these boards in any room?

Answer: The Noisedeck range are made of moisture resistant chipboard which can be used throughout your property. You can install these boards in bathrooms and kitchens.
