Perimeter strips enable carpet grippers and underlay to be used in conjunction with acoustic underlays. This strip combines plywood strips and a barrier mat to ensure additional protection when gripper rods are used for carpets. Combine with either Noisestop F7 or Noisestop F7+ acoustic underlay for the best effect.

Fitting Perimeter Strips
Perimeter strips are nailed or glued around the room’s perimeter with the black barrier layer facing down. Carpet gripper rods are then nailed on the top of the perimeter strip, raising them to the correct height to take the carpet. Acoustic underlay panels are tightly butted up to the perimeter strip and loosely laid on the existing floorboards in a brick bond pattern.
Utmost care should be taken to ensure that no gaps occur between the panels. In some situations, it may be necessary to bond the acoustic mats to the sub-floor to comply with Building Regulation Approved Document E (2003).
