Description

AC50 Acoustic Sealant

AC50 is available in two sizes 380ml (standard) and 900ml (large). AC50 Flexible Sealant and Adhesive is a high strength, permanently flexible acoustic sealant and adhesive specifically formulated for sealing and bonding plasterboard and other insulation boards to common substrates.

One small tube of AC50 acoustic sealant will seal the edges of approximately five 1200mm x 1200mm soundproof panels.

Benefits

  • Strength permanently flexible sealant
  • High grab
  • Adheres to most surfaces
  • Mould resistant
  • Non flammable and fire rated
  • Over paintable
  • Easy clean up
  • Areas for Use
  • To form an acoustic barrier by sealing gaps between plasterboard walls, floors and ceilings and in dry lining applications.
As an adhesive to bond plasterboard to plasterboard, wood and metal studding and direct to block work.
For sealing and bonding most other Kraft lined insulation boards.
    Limitations
  • Damp or humid conditions will significantly extend the cure time
  • Do not attempt to abrade when cured
  • Do not over paint until product has fully cured. This will normally be 24 hours but may be 4-5 days in damp, cold or humid conditions
  • Do not apply below 5°C
  • For overhead boarding applications, always use in conjunction with mechanical fixings.

Surface Preparation

All surfaces must be clean and dust free. All loose or flaking surface coatings, and old sealant and mastic joints, should be removed before application. Highly porous substrates such as new plaster should first be primed with PVA bond diluted 1:4 with water. Surfaces may be slightly damp, but not wet. NOTE: THIS WILL SLOW THE CURE.

Application:

  • 900ml tubes: Fit cartridge into a jumbo sealant gun. Cut nozzle to required length and puncture inner membrane seal before applying
  • 380ml tubes: Cut the tip of the cartridge taking care not to damage the thread. Apply nozzle and cut cleanly at an angle of 45′
  • Use as a sealant: Always cut nozzle to a size slightly larger than the gap to be sealed. Apply to gap, slightly overfilling and finish smooth with a caulking tool or filler knife
  • Clean up any excess with a damp cloth within 30 minutes of application
  • Use as an adhesive for direct bonding to large surfaces: Cut nozzle to provide a bead of approximately 9-10mm diameter and apply a continuous bead to one surface at 250-350mm centers. Apply board immediately to surface and tamp down. Provide temporary support until cured
  • Use as an adhesive for bonding to studding: Apply a continuous bead to studding and apply board immediately into position. Do not apply more than one board’s width of studding at one time. Provide temporary support until cured.

If you need goods in a hurry give us a call. We carry most items in stock which can be delivered quickly if required, call 01423 339163.

How will my order be delivered?

The majority of orders we despatch are sent on pallets. We use a network of pallet distribution companies across the UK. All our pallet deliveries are kerbside deliveries. This means the pallet will be delivered as near to the delivery address as possible. Pallets are unloaded form the vehicles with a pallet truck. If it is possible the pallets can be dropped on driveways if they are accessible with the pallet truck.

Pallet deliveries are normally made on 7.5 tonne vehicles that are similar in size to bin lorries. Occasionally larger vehicles are used. If you know of any reason why it might be difficult to deliver to your address with this type of vehicle please let us so we can pass the information on to the delivery company. Typical delivery problems can include parking restrictions, access issues for certain size vehicles, low bridges and overhanging trees. Call 01423 339163 if you are unsure.

Unfortunately the delivery drivers will not bring the goods into your property or unload the individual items from the pallets.

Many of our items are heavy and often require two people to carry them safely.

All orders sent on pallets are wrapped and secured to the pallet to protect them while in transit. Once you have received your order we would recommend storing the materials inside. If you are planning on leaving your goods outside you should use additional covering to protect them from any adverse weather conditions.

Damaged or missing items

In the unfortunate event that items are damaged or missing when your order arrives you should sign damaged or missing items on the drivers paperwork. Call 01423339163 to let us know of the issue to allow us to quickly rectify the problem.

We might ask for a picture of the damage, this is to speed up the process of arranging a suitable solution.

To enable us to quickly resolve any issues with your delivery it is important that you sign for your delivery when it arrives.

Returns

Can I return items from my order? Yes you can return unused items from your order that are in a salable condition. We can arrange to collect any unused materials and have them brought back to us. We would refund the cost of the items returned back to us less the shipping cost incurred by the company collecting the items. The cost to return the goods would be confirmed at the point of arranging the return. The refund would be paid once the goods have been brought back and have been checked at our warehouse.

Alternatively you can arrange to return the materials back to us and we would issue a refund once they have been received.

Special delivery note if you order soundbreaker bars as part of a wall or ceiling kit

If you order a wall or ceiling soundproofing kit that include soundbreaker bars these will be delivered separately from the pallet. we are not able to despatch the bars with the pallet. The soundbreaker bars are too long to go with the pallet so they will be delivered separately. No additional charges are incurred for the separate deliveries. We try to ensure the pallet and the bars arrive on the same day, occasionally this might not happen. Normally both deliveries are made within 24 hours of each other.

*All prices displayed are exclusive of VAT @ 20%. This will be added at the end of the checkout process before you confirm your order.

If you require any additional information regarding deliveries please give us a call 01423 339163, alternatively get in touch via our contacts page.
