Description

Noisestop Acoustic Panel is our highest performing stand alone direct to wall soundproofing panel. At only 22.5mm thick it is one o the thinnest wall soundproofing solutions available. The high performance against airborne noise and the minimal space loss in the room means the Noisestop Acoustic Panel is an ideal solution for noisy neighbours. Soundproof rooms without compromising space in your home and at work. The panel comprises of acoustic plasterboard, which is denser than standard plasterboard, the density blocks airborne sounds. The back off the boards have a triple laminated layer comprising of two layers of 2.5mm mass loaded vinyl, which add mass to the board and reduce vibration o the plasterboard. The reduction in vibration increases the over all reduction of sound. The centre of the triple laminated layer is a 5mm acoustic foam, this foam core absorbs sound as it passes through the panel. This combination of materials ensure sound is absorbed, blocked and vibration is reduced, ensuring high levels of airborne sound are reduced.

  • DIY soundprooing
  • Thin soundprooing solution or walls, can be applied to ceilings
  • 30 minute fire rating
  • 50dB reduction
  • Noisy neighbour solution
  • Part E compliant for separating walls
  • Bond directly to walls using Smart Tack Adhesive

An ideal solution or separating walls to comply with Part E Building Regulations. This panel is suitable or use in rooms that require higher levels of sound insulation like studios and home cinemas, use with acoustic insulation and soundbreaker bars to form acoustic walls and ceilings. Apply over plasterboard ceilings to reduce airborne sound between floors, or as part of a ceiling soundproofing system.

Fitting Noisestop Acoustic Panels

The Noisestop Acoustic Panel is applied directly on to the walls surface using adhesive. If you prefer the panels can be fixed to a wall using screws and plugs. The laminated layer on the back of these boards will reduce sound transfer through the screws. These boards can also be used to upgrade acoustic wall systems by fitting them to studs or soundbreaker bars. If you are soundproofing ceilings use these panels over an existing ceiling, or as part of a new acoustic ceiling.

  • Apply directly on to walls using Smart Tack Adhesive
  • Screw panels on to stud frames, soundbreaker bars or ceiling joists
  • Plaster directly on to the panel
  • Tapered edges mean you can tape and fill the edges as an alternative to plastering

We recommend that one tube of standard AC50 acoustic sealant and one tin of Smart Tack for every five boards.

Install the panels directly on to walls with Smart Tack Adhesive. Spray both surfaces, the back of the board and the wall it is being applied. If you would prefer to use mechanical fixings you can use 9 screws per board to fit them to walls. The panels are easy to cut, use a hand saw or a circular saw to cut the panels to shape. Apply acoustic sealant to the edge of each board, apply a bead of sealant to each edge and around the perimeter of the wall. The panels can be plastered, or alternatively tape and  fill the tapered edges prior to decorating.

Fitting these panels as part of wall and ceiling soundproofing systems will require screwing them into stud frames, soundbreaker bars or ceiling joists. You do not have to pre-drill these panels before fitting them to any of these surfaces. Screw through the panel, take care not to over tighten the screws. When applying the boards to ceilings they will require additional fixings, use 16 screws per board for ceilings. Plaster skim or tape and fill the tapered edge of the panels prior to decorating.

Reduce flanking noise

When you are considering any form of wall soundproofing you should take into account flanking sound. Sound travels around a building through any cavities it can find, one of the easiest ways for sound to pass through is between floor cavities. Sound transferring through these areas is flanking sound. When you soundproof a wall you should consider reducing the chance of sound transferring through floor cavities between the floor joists. If your floor joists are shared with a neighbouring property it is easy or sound to transfer through the floor. If you are soundproofing a party wall you should check to see if floor joists are going through to your neighbours property. Do this by checking which way your floorboards are running. If they run in the same direction as the wall the chances are you floor joists will be running into the wall, this will increase the chance of flanking sound transferring between the properties.

The easiest way to reduce flanking sound through your floors is to insulate between the floor joists. Remove a few floor boards up against the wall and fill the cavity against the wall with acoustic insulation 80k/m³ would be a suitable density of slab to use. Fit the slabs against the wall, coming back into the room approximately 600mm, or the width off a slab.

How do I cut the panel to fit?

Answer: The panels are easy to cut using tools that most people have. Cut the panels to size using a hand saw or a stanley knife. You can also use circular saws or jigsaws.

Can I soundproof a wall with these panels?

Answer: The Noisestop Acoustic Panels have been designed to work as a stand alone soundproofing panel. The panel comprises of acoustic plasterboard bonded to three layer acoustic foam and mass loaded barrier mats. The result of this combination of materials offers good levels of noise reduction to stop mid level noise such as conversation and TV noise through a party wall. The panel can be combined with acoustic insulation slabs and Soundbreaker Bars when high levels of sound reduction are required.

How do you fix the panels to a wall?

Answer: The Noisestop Acoustic Panel can be either fixed directly to a wall using screws and plugs or bonded to the wall using Smart Tack adhesive. The walls must be flat and in good condition if you are going to stick them to the wall.

Can you fix these panels to stud frames and ceilings?

Answer: If you are fitting the panels to stud frames or ceilings you can screw through the panel in to the timber or metal studs. If you are using Soundbreaker Bars screw the panels straight into the bars.

How do you finish the Panels?

Answer: All our soundproof panels have a plasterboard face, the blue side of the board faces into the room. They are ready to be plastered once they are installed, the boards are tapered edge so they can be filled and sanded ready for decorating if you don’t want to plaster them.

Can I attach things on to the wall afterwards?

Answer: Once you have completed the work you can treat the wall as you would any other wall. Try to avoid too many fixing going through the wall as this may cause sound transfer. Suitable plugs and screws should be used to fix to the wall, we would recommend plasterboard plugs be used for hanging lightweight items.
