Stud Wall Kit 75mm DFM

Restore peace by soundproofing stud walls with a stud wall kit 75mm. It’s suitable for stud frames with a minimum depth of 75mm and can be used to soundproof new or existing stud walls. Alternatively, you can install this solution on party walls to increase the sound insulation between neighbouring properties.

The stud wall kit effectively blocks airborne and impact sounds that transfer through poorly insulated walls. Standard stud wall construction does very little to block the passage of sound, but our solution will increase wall mass and reduce vibration through the walls structure. The result will be significant noise reduction compared to untreated stud walls. This solution is suitable for rooms divided by lightweight internal walls which do not block sound transfer.

What’s included in the Stud Wall Kit

Our Stud Wall Kit 75mm comprises 75mm acoustic insulation, which blocks and absorbs sound waves, reducing airborne sounds that travel through the wall.

The soundbreaker bars attached to the stud frame are an acoustic hanger. They will absorb vibration that would normally transfer through your walls, and this vibration is how the sound transfers between rooms.

The Noisestop 1+ panels combine mass and density to block airborne sound. The combination of a 12.5mm acoustic plasterboard and the 10kg mass vinyl backing will reduce airborne sound and vibration of the plasterboard.

One layer of 12.5mm acoustic plasterboard, denser than standard plasterboard. Allows you to stagger the joints of the first layer of boards.

AC50 acoustic sealants are used to seal the edges of the boards and around the wall’s perimeter. Using acoustic sealant will ensure no small gaps are left between the boards for sound to escape.

We have put these soundproofing systems together as examples of combinations of products you can use to soundproof a room. You can use various combinations to suit your requirements, whether you are looking for additional sound control or you might have a bit of extra space for a thicker solution.

Feel free to get in touch to discuss your needs with one of the team. We can provide help and advice to tailor the right soundproof system for you, call 014213 339163.

Installing Stud Wall Kit 75mm

Stud Wall Kit

Stud wall

  • Insulate between the stud frame with the DFM acoustic insulation. Cut the slabs 5mm wider than the opening to friction fit between the stud frame. Ensure the whole area is filled before you move on to the next stage.
  • Soundbreaker bars are fitted to the stud frame at 600mm centres. The bars are screwed onto the studs at 600mm centres, horizontally running wall to wall. The first bar is secured 50mm up the wall; continue fitting the bars up the wall. For more information on fitting soundbreaker bars. Bars are fixed into the studs by screwing through the pre-drilled holes that run along the length of the bar.
  • The Noisestop 1+ Panel and the acoustic plasterboard are screwed directly into the soundbreaker bars. The boards are screwed into the wide flat corrugated flange of the bar. There is no need for pre-drilling into the bars. Attach boards with drywall screws or universal screws. Fix the Noisestop 1+ panel first and then overboard with the acoustic plasterboard.
  • Use an acoustic sealant to seal each board’s edges and seal the perimeter of the wall. You can apply an acoustic sealant to the panels as you install them, as well as filling any gaps between the boards after they have been installed.
  • Once you have installed the boards, either plaster the wall or tape and fill the tapered edge of the plasterboard.

NOTE ON FLANKING SOUND – Before installing any soundproofing system, you should consider any flanking paths for the sound. These are areas around the wall that sound will bypass the soundproofing and enter the room. The most common flanking course for sounds would be above or below the wall, which would be through a floor or ceiling cavity. If these areas are constructed from timber joists, you should consider filling the void above or below the area with DFM acoustic insulation to stop potential flanking noise.

How will my order be delivered?

The majority of orders we despatch are sent on pallets. We use a network of pallet distribution companies across the UK. All our pallet deliveries are kerbside deliveries. This means the pallet will be delivered as near to the delivery address as possible. Pallets are unloaded form the vehicles with a pallet truck. If it is possible the pallets can be dropped on driveways if they are accessible with the pallet truck.

Pallet deliveries are normally made on 7.5 tonne vehicles that are similar in size to bin lorries. Occasionally larger vehicles are used. If you know of any reason why it might be difficult to deliver to your address with this type of vehicle please let us so we can pass the information on to the delivery company. Typical delivery problems can include parking restrictions, access issues for certain size vehicles, low bridges and overhanging trees. Call 01423 339163 if you are unsure.

Unfortunately the delivery drivers will not bring the goods into your property or unload the individual items from the pallets.

Many of our items are heavy and often require two people to carry them safely.

All orders sent on pallets are wrapped and secured to the pallet to protect them while in transit. Once you have received your order we would recommend storing the materials inside. If you are planning on leaving your goods outside you should use additional covering to protect them from any adverse weather conditions.

    Damaged or missing items

In the unfortunate event that items are damaged or missing when your order arrives you should sign damaged or missing items on the drivers paperwork. Call 01423339163 to let us know of the issue to allow us to quickly rectify the problem.

We might ask for a picture of the damage, this is to speed up the process of arranging a suitable solution.

To enable us to quickly resolve any issues with your delivery it is important that you sign for your delivery when it arrives.

Can I return items from my order? Yes you can return unused items from your order that are in a salable condition. We can arrange to collect any unused materials and have them brought back to us. We would refund the cost of the items returned back to us less the shipping cost incurred by the company collecting the items. The cost to return the goods would be confirmed at the point of arranging the return. The refund would be paid once the goods have been brought back and have been checked at our warehouse.

Alternatively you can arrange to return the materials back to us and we would issue a refund once they have been received.

Special delivery note if you order soundbreaker bars as part of a wall or ceiling kit

If you order a wall or ceiling soundproofing kit that include soundbreaker bars these will be delivered separately from the pallet. we are not able to despatch the bars with the pallet. The soundbreaker bars are too long to go with the pallet so they will be delivered separately. No additional charges are incurred for the separate deliveries. We try to ensure the pallet and the bars arrive on the same day, occasionally this might not happen. Normally both deliveries are made within 24 hours of each other.

*All prices displayed are exclusive of VAT @ 20%. This will be added at the end of the checkout process before you confirm your order.
